OT- Olympic Challenge/Question

OK! Think about yourself. Who you are, what you're capable.
Which olympic sport could you realistically train to be competitive in.

I'm not talking necessarily medal worthy, I'm talking more being able to get a spot on a team in a country where they don't have many competitors (ala Jamacian bobsledders).

Myself I'm thinking something that doesn't require you to be super fit like target shooting. Or maybe dressage? although I'm sure that takes a lot more than I know about.

I'm cracking up because have you ever seen "curling"? That's one I can do, because in between rounds the "athletes" are drinking brewskis!!

LOL! I lived in England when the women's team won gold. I have seen enough curling for a lifetime!
I actually tried it last winter (DH's work did it for part of their christmas party). I spent 90% of the time rolling down the ice on my stomach, and I wasn't doing the brewskis! Maybe that was my problem...

OMG, I am seriously jealous. I really do want to try it. (I never have a broom in my hand otherwise!!!). Yes, I think your curling proficiency is directly proportional to your beer intake!

Oh, they didn't trust me with the BROOM! good golly know. Well, not to sweep with one. I was 'team captain' which meant I stood and told them which direction to throw the stone, and then I got to throw the last stone (hence the stomach on the ice thing). I never got the hang of the shoes, one is slippery and one sticks.
You MUST try it! hahaha

I was actually a swimmer a million years ago in high school. Problem was I was blessed/cursed with boobs...

Now, I can get into the brewski part of curling.

Last summer I went to a conference in Park City, UT and got to go down the real bob sled track with a proffesional driver. It was a kick! Apparently they train year around there.

I could probably get into archery.

Tmom and Paige, forget about archery. You can do synchronized swimming. It's the one "sport" I have seen where blue eyeshadow is required!! haha.

(My favorite SNL skit of all time is the sync swimming one with Martin Short).

Or ribbon dancing...we could probably do that too! It's equally as weird as syncronized swimming! IMO.

Hey, what about badminton? YES it's an Olympic sport! I used to play that in my aunt's yard when I was 8.

(Oh wait, I was terrible at it even then. . .)

That's right, Saya...I forgot...I am actually a pretty good ping pong (ala Table Tennis) player. OMG, have you seen this "sport" at the Olympics...it's literally insane! Badminton is the bomb! Is it a team sport at the Olympics?

I think we should campaign for Frisbee Golf to be added as an olympic sport. Frisbee Golf is a blast and beer drinking is required.

Olympic Badminton!!:
2008 Beijing Summer Olympics - Badminton | Singles, Mixed Doubles Info, Videos & Photos | NBC Olympics

It's big in Asia, so I heard about it a lot when I lived in Indonesia.

Why is it that whenever I turn on the TV they're showing swimming, gymnastics or beach volleyball (all great but I'm SO sick of them) and never things I want to see like badminton, or air rifle shooting, or table tennis, or handball. BRING ON THE OBSCURE SPORTS.

I suppose rifle shooting doesn't mix well with beer, though. . .
