Totally OT: Anyone Excited for "Breaking Dawn"?

Please tell me I'm not the only book nerd excited for the teenage girl's book "Breaking Dawn" (the next in the "Twilight" series) to be released for sale?

Please?

Aw man, now I'm going to sound UBER nerdy!

Here's a little mine synopsis I found:

Quote:
In a style reminiscent of Anne Rice, Meyer brings the macabre to a small Washington town in a novel combining mystery, romance, fantasy, and sensuality. Isabella Swan has moved to her father's house in tiny Forks, Washington, a twilight town where perpetual rain and mist stand in stark contrast to her mother's home in Phoenix. Isabella is the new girl who discovers that small town life is pretty slow-paced, and small town people are pretty friendly. She settles in quickly, and finds the most intriguing thing about her new school to be the Cullen family, a group of four amazingly beautiful young people who keep to themselves in school. Edward Cullen is Isabella's lab partner, and he avoids interacting with her or even looking at her. However, when an accident almost ends her life, Isabella finds out the truth about Edward and his family, a group of benevolent vampires who have chosen the misty city so that they can blend in...

I know, vampires can sound kind of hokey, but I promise this is a good read

The subsequent books are all about Isabella's interactions with the vampires, her relationship with Edward, and maybe even toss in some werewolves (I know, it sounds crazy, but good - seriously!)

Hmmm... I'd heard that there were vampires, but I hadn't heard more than that (yes, I know, I need to get with the times...)

Comparing it to Anne Rice makes me even more interested, I had a friend who got me into reading her (Anne Rice's) stuff way back in Jr. High School. It was good.

I think I'll wait a bit until the hype calms down and pick them up...

Hmm, okay I kind of thought they were about vampires. Not my usual kind of book - are they worth taking a chance on? Okay silly question obviously.

Ok - I pickedup my first book (twilight) on saturday.......since then I have read the ENTIRE series -omg, SO GOOD!!

TGM - what did you think of the final book? After the first "section" I was a titch...well....actually I was MAD - I put the book down and didn't go back until that night..LOL!!!!

I'm so glad it went the way it did tho - although I thought the author was heading somewhere different after that first section....

I don't know anyone irl who reads the books - so I'd love to hear your thoughts!!!

Wow Leigh - I'm impressed!!

I'm really glad with the way it ended. I thought it put an end to the story in a way that's true to all the characters and fair to the readers.

I was a bit irritated with the first section as well - I don't know, it just rubbed me wrong. But then as it began to unfold it got way interesting again and I was super into it!

Now I just have to wait until December for the movie of ther first one to come out.....

**SPOILER ALERT!!!!!**

Ok TGM - WHY do you think it annoyed you so much?? Cuz seriously, i was actually MAD about it!! LOL!! For ME, I think I was worried that it just couldn't end well, ya know? I couldn't see how she could still become a vampire if she had a baby - and I thought it might screw up the happily ever after that I needed!! Then to top it off when it switched over to Jacob's point of view - I was annoyed!! LOL

Once I got into it again, I was fine - and I LOVE how it all unravelled. But I was actually In a cranky mood for a bit because of that first part..LOLOL

Another question - When you think of edward - who do you think he looks like/acts like?

At first I thought Ryan Phillipee (however you spell that) when he was in Cruel Intentions. THe whole incredibly rich and proper part of sebastian's character made me think of Edward ......then towards the end I also thought of (crap I can't think of his name right now -shocking since star wars is so freakin huge in my house right now) the guy who plays Anikan skywalker....christian something or other?? gah...anyhoo...I think he kinda looks how I'd imagine Edward.

I always want to picture Edward more adult looking - but that doesn't fit, does it.

I saw a picture for the movie a while ago - i'll have to go search it out again to see how much the edward they used looks like the edward i imagine.

ETA - ohhhhh Cedric Diggery from the Harry Potter movies - good call!!

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the cedric diggory guy at first but after seeing some of the previews on the website, I'm pretty okay with it. But yeah, I could definitely see him as more the ryan phillipe from his cruel intentions days too....good call!

Okay, first I was just irritated that she got pregnant. It seemed way too obvious but not you know? Of course there's the question of how could she get pregnant which is why it wasn't obvious, but I was just annoyed at the traditional story line. Boy and girl meet, boy and girl get married, boy and girl conceive child - on their honeymoon of course!! It's like - these people are DIFFERENT, they're vampires and stuff - can't we have a different story?? I don't know - I think that's more of a critique of media in general though (I wrote a whole blog about some of it too....)

And I was super irritated when Jacob started narrating.

BUT I think the story was really clever after that, and I totally forgave the author for going with the traditional story deal. I LOVED how Jacob imprinted on Renesmee and that was a total "Oh no he didn't!!!" moment for me. Like it all made sense, you know?

So yeah, by the end I was very happy with it overall. (Especially when Alice came back at the end! I knew she couldn't let everyone down like that!)
