Letter to my children

My darlings,

I have never dreamed of what-if. I have never dreamed of who you would be if we met. I have never asked myself what I would have changed if I knew what would befall me. At that end of that was a blessed brief moment in time, smelling your hair, touching your fingers, looking into your newborn eyes and hoping that some little part of you would remember me.

I do know you are lovely no matter your religion, your personal creed, the challenges you have faced. Life is the same for us all in the end. Blessings, struggles, all points in between. The journey is long but it is vibrant and my only hope is that you have embraced life, not for me, but for yourselves. Remember that even when the way is dark, there is much to learned.

I do know that your parents love you. They were thrilled to have you both..that is what I was told. I was so happy that they took you in together and that you have grown up under one roof; a brother and sister each with the other to love. It was an act of great kindness and devotion for these two people who I'm sure had tried so desperately to have children of their own to open their hearts to someone elses. Such people are a gift on this earth.

But I have never dreamed of what-if. I have sent you wishes on the wind; hopes for you that your lives are full with friends and family. And I say to you now the same thing that I said to your sisters when were little and they told me what they dreamed to be and they asked me if it was okay that they wanted to be a plumber or a ballerina or a movie star or a banker because then they'd have all the money in the world. I answer your sisters the same way I did when they asked if I was disappointed with them.

My darlings,

Doctor, ditchdigger whatever you do, wherever you go, whoever you are or will be......... I will always love you. Nothing will change that; not time, not distance, not sorrow or anger. Nothing will change that. A mother's love is brighter than the sun and it never burns out.

Godspeed to you both my children on the road of life. Remember that the road winds and sometimes it drops off but that God walks with us all and that He never loses sight of His destination even when we lose sight of ours.

May the Buddha shine a light upon you both and upon your parents and bring you peace.

Janey your mom

Thank you JustPeachy,

That means a lot to me. I am not at the point yet where I can even entertainmen my children reading this (not even my daughters who are with me). Still, it does my heart good to know that other people out there can wish this for me.

Hoping that your day is a good day.

Janey
