Howdy... I agree that there are certainly times when a child should be separated from his/her caretaker, whether that caretaker be a first parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, grandparent, whatever. The child's safety comes first, and perhaps CPS should have become involved much earlier with the children you mentioned.
And, you are right about the need for resources, and I think this needs to be addressed. I also think that more emphasis should be placed on kinship arrangements than on stranger adoption. In addition, there are many cases of children being messed up by their aparents as well. It would just be nice to see as much energy being placed on family or kinship arrangements as on adoption by nonfamily. At least children would grow up among their family. Peace, Susan |
