Asked, "What name do you want him to call you?"

My son will be 2 years old this Sunday. He has been talking for several months, and one of my highlights (and most painful moments) was the day he called me "mama."

On a visit this weekend, his mother asked if I'd given any thought to what I'd like him to call me (and the birthfather), since he's now attaching names to people. Honestly, I hadn't considered the choice, and now wonder what words might be appropriate...

My boys call their Bparents by their name. My oldest son has started putting a Miss in front of his Bmom. I think that is because that's how we address people at church and friends parents. However, she and I are both ok with just a first name.

The Munchkin refers to me by my first name (which I do not mind) but has occasionally referred to me as Mommy as well. I do not make a big deal out of it when she does as I know she's just mentally trying on different terms for the roles of people in her life. But it felt like heaven. That said, I would never require to be referred to with a maternal name of that nature. My first name is more than acceptable for addressing me.
