"If my child wanted to place their baby for adoption, I would...."
What would you do if you were in a situation as a birth parent if your child wanted to place their child for adoption? Please discuss, but also be respectful, thanks .

I would hope that I would be able to be sensitive to my child's feelings. I would try to have the lines of communication wide open with my arms open wide for much needed hugs with a shoulder to cry on. I would cry with my child for the decision that had to be made.
I would hope that I would also be very proud of my child for making the most difficult and selfless decision they ever had to make (son or daughter).

I would make sure to sit down and have a heart to heart talk with my child. I would make sure she knows what her options are and respect whatever decision she decides to make. I would support her in whatever path she chooses and be there for her in the hard times and also the good. I would help her make sure that her choice to place her child for adoption went the way she wanted it to and let her know that she always has a mom that loves her and is always there for her without judgement. I would be her rock and her shoulder whenever she needed.

I hope that she's never in that position. I hope to God she never is. I don't wish this for anyone, even less for my daughter.
But if she does become pregnant and decide to place her child, I will stand by her. I'll be heartbroken, but I will do my best to be sure she understands I love her no less and I will be there for her no matter what. But I'd be lying if I said I've not worried about it happening. |

I agree with moderndaybradybunch. I guess I would also try to make sure that she is educated about ALL the options available to her if she considers parenting. I would definately make sure we could talk about it as easily as possible.
I would also encourage an open adoption, but yes, respect her wishes. |
