The following is an article from England about a proposed TV show......

LONDON (AFP) - The BBC defended a controversial television show it is developing in which celebrities try to adopt a child.

Critics have slammed the series, provisionally titled "Family Wanted", saying it trivialises a difficult subject.

"I am perfectly confident it will be a responsible series and hopefully it will shine a light on a big issue for a lot of people," said Peter Fincham, the controller of the main domestic BBC1 channel.

"Yes, it will feature some celebrities who have a great interest in the adoption process.

"But no, we are not going to see them adopting children on camera."

BBC programme makers are chasing a gay man, a single mother and a black or South Asian celebrity to feature in the series, The Daily Mirror newspaper reported.

If you feel as strongly as I do about such a distasteful reality show then please send your complaint to...

I know most who use this forum are from the USA but as much assistance in getting our voices heard would be most appreciated.

I'm shocked

It amazes me, with all the drama inclusive in the adoption triad, that a production company would choose celebrity adoption as a topic.

Children really don't have any say about their lives at all, do they? Every child should have an advocate (other than a court) who cares about their privacy, and what's best for them. If I was the mother, I'd make certain that my baby was definitely not adopted by someone who would agree to this kind of show.

Let's hope the show 'bombs' in the UK, or else I'm sure we'll see the same stupidity over here in the US.
