I just thought i'd give you guys a weird little perspective here... I thought it so strange... I've been reading these boards religiously... and I had no idea how common domestic adoption was... it's amazing to me... It some ways I find it so sad, and my heart goes out to all of you... in other ways I find it very inspiring...I have great respect and admiration for all of you...

Sooo... I just thought i'd let you know, I'm from Quebec, Canada, and guess what?????????????? Domestic adoption is illegal here! (not everwhere in canada, but this huge province)

Anyone care to share their thoughts about this?

Oh... I'm sorry, do you mean it's good that domestic adoption is illegal in Quebec? If that's what you mean, then I totally agree... I have been reading, and can't believe what many of you have been put through. I wish you all happiness and health... Good luck in the future...

Christine, believe it or not it was a British adoptive father who gave me the link for the forced adoption site. We were posting on a British website and all the birth mothers fell out with him as he came across with a bad attitude. He and his wife have bio kids and adopted kids who came from not so great backgrounds ... parents with poor life styles such as drugs. I know that isn't any excuse but it explained to a degree his reasoning.

It was at the time I knew my depression was really bad and I had just gone onto medication so I wasn't at my best anyway so out of sheer rage I spilled my guts completely over a few posts over what happened to me. He was so appalled by my story that he contacted the owner of the website who in turn was interested in knowing more. The adad didn't know my phone number so let me know through the forum what he had done and gave me the website address. I ended having an interesting chat with this man (website owner) who told me that what had happened to me came under a forced adoption which is actually illegal. When my son was adopted I wasn't shown any paperwork, wasn't told about open adoptions nor did I have my rights explained fully to me during the whole process so just on this basis made it a forced/illegal adoption. My son is over 18 so it would be up to him if he wanted to take this matter further but at the end of the day it wouldn't solve anything as the damage has been done.
