Fresh start

Hi again!

Someone suggested that I start a new post to discuss the next step in my life, so here it is.

I've decided to do the adoption and have an appt. on Friday to start looking for the family.

I also went to the dr. yesterday and the baby is healthy. I decided not to find out the sex though, because I have heard some adoptive parents will only choose a specific sex and I don't like that. I'm due on December 11th according to the chart they did. I did talk to her about my tiredness and what I should be eating. She also recommended I ask my boss if I can switch between the hostess job & waitressing to keep me off my feet more. Said as time goes on, I will not want to be on my feet as much. I am sure that is true, but plan to keep waitressing as long as I feel okay because of the tips.

I feel good about making this decision but do admit I'm still scared and am worried about finding the right family. Hopefully it will go smoothly!

Thanks again for all your kind pm's and messages!

Great idea Pluma

So glad that you and the baby are healthy. I'm sure you are pretty overwhelmed with choosing the right parents for your baby. Trust your heart, you'll know it when you find the parents that fit for you.

Also if you find yourself going from one emotion to the next in a flash........it's NORMAL No one warned me about that and it freaked me out at first. Hormones will do crazy things to a woman.

Pluma, please consider getting a lot of rest when not working. Being on your feet a lot during your third trimester is not the best thing for you. Elevate those feet!

I am happy to hear you have a healthy pregnancy. Good luck with finding the right adoptive parents.

Good luck to you!

All I can think to say is...go with your gut. If a family doesn't feel just right, they probably aren't. Oh and take care of yourself, too, emotionally as well as physically (though I'm sure you will).

Hi Pluma!

I'm happy to hear you and the baby are doing well. Best of luck Friday. You've got a tough few months ahead of you dealing with the pregnancy AND the adoption. Just take care of YOU and get all the rest you can so you have a clear head when making decisions. Do you have any family members that can help you look at the profiles? It would help to have the input of someone you're close with instead of making the decision all on your own. I can't even go pick out new glasses without someone with me! lol.

GOOD FOR YOU about not finding out the sex. But rest assured most families aren't that picky..especially if they are adopting their first child. Do you have a list of what else you're looking for in a family? Race, age, other children, religion, area, stay at home mom, level of openness in the adoption, etc? I'd suggest going to your meeting Friday with a clear idea of what you're looking for and stick with it. If you don't see any you like, don't be afraid to say so. Don't feel obligated to pick from just the ones your agency has. There are plenty of other options. The perfect family is out there for you . You'll know them when you find them.

Keep us posted!
