I am looking for my baby girl that was born June 14th, 1984 in Salmon Arm, British Columbia Canada. I was just 16 yrs. old and was told I had no rights and that I had to give her up. There is not a day that goes by that I have never thought of her. When I walk down the street I look into every young woman's eyes to see a resembelance. I am sure anyone who reads this can appreciate what I am saying. I would love more than anything in this world to find her. I would understand and respect her wishes whatever they may be. I just want to know if she is well and has had a good life. I miss her.

Do you have any information about your daughter? You do know that adoption records are fully open in British Columbia right.
Please pm me if you need information on how to locate your daughter Hugs Melissa |

I don't know where to start........
thank you for your reply........I did hear that the records in B.C. are open but when I have tried everyone tells me that for them to look It will cost me a lot of$$. Not that I wouldn't hesitate to spend it if I had It. I am, like a lot of people living paycheck to paycheck. I hear of so many people having such good fortune in finding and reuniting........I have hope!!! I am seriously in need of information. I feel like I am going in circles and kinda dumb because I don't know where to start. But I pray every day, and good things happen to those who wait!!!

Finding info
Dear onedaysoon:
It's great that you have a posting on this site - which, in my experience, is one of the few free (or otherwise) and varied (e.g. for people involved in adoption for assorted reasons). Two things it lacks are spell-check (a minor point) and a red-flag potential match situation. Happily, I found my biological mother years ago, but the circumstances were very low-tech (she STILL doesn't have a computer OR e-mail address). I am still looking for my biological father and worry that I might never find him: My mother doesn't remember his last name & it's difficult to get military records without such a crucial detail ... He was in the U.S. ARMY (mom is German) and they are not exactly forthcoming with information. Back to your situation: G-d bless you for wanting to know about your daughter! She is now 20 and you know when & where she was born and (hopefully) you know her [birth] mother's name. Perhaps the hospital can provide some useful info? Of course, be discreet in approaching ANYONE involved: People are apt to assume the worst when you look for a person (e.g. you're a stalker; money-grubber; etc.) I don't know whether your daughter was put up for adoption, but if you know her mother's name, maybe you could find her, write a non-threatening letter and see where that leads. Or if the hospital is of no use, you should be able to search Canadian birth records by surname (could be yours, or the baby's mother's) and/or date at the library in the city where your daughter was born. Reunions are not easy to make - (I'd hire a private-eye to find my dad if I had the money) & even harder to have (I love my bio-mom deeply and dearly, but meeting her at 26 (27?) sent me into a tail-spin) - but if you register with every (preferrably free) site while going through the hospital/mother, etc., you WILL eventually find your baby girl ... Again, I wish my father cared as much about me. Quote:
