Unusual letter from State of Pennsylvania
Originally Posted By Frances
I have been searching for my biological son but to no avail, then last May I received a letter from the state of Pennsylvania, telling me that I shouldn't expect any reunion with my son because he had just passed away at the age of 32. I contacted the state employee that had signed the letter and she verified the letter stating that she had the death certificate right on her desk. I called her many times requesting more innformation but she always refused. I then contacted by phone and mail the Philadelphia family court, adoption section, and they were surprised that the state would write such a letter and they would have to check into this. Several weeks later I received a letter from the Philadelphia court stating they learned my son did in fact pass away but they would not release any other information as I was not entitled to know how, why or where he died. I am besides myself wondering if my son had a buriel, I can only imagine all the horrible ways one could pass away at such a young age, are there ever flowers at his grave site, these are questions I need answered. Why would the state even tell me of the death as I am finding this so very hard to live with. If I was not told anything at least I would be living with hope. Any help, suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

There MUST be some kind of recourse; if there is, I would bet that Damsel can steer you in the right direction. I will drop her a note and ask her to read the message you left on my Forum. Hang in there, honey. Somehow we will get help for you. With warm hugs, Carol.

Are you sure he was 32? I had a adoptive brother that died in 1985? we to lived in Philadelphia, he was adopted through the Jewish Family Services in Philadelphia. If this was your son, he had a nice funeral. My adoptive mom loved him very much. If this is not your son, I am very sorry. Please write and let me know. My email address is blandp@hotmail.com
