My whole past and future is about where I came from, and I'm so empty not knowing.

There are many FREE Search Registries available to you, and I suggest that you register on as many as possible. Our Registry can be reached by going to the "Site Map) on the Adopt home page (http://www.adopting.org) and tapping the "FREE Search Registry" button. This will take you to a special form. Before even entering your personal information (gender, date of birth, hospital, city, state, and any other information you have that might identify you), please run a search using your date of birth, and see if she is registered, first. Adoptee Liberty Movement Association, Inc (ALMA) is headquartered in New York City. It offers local "Support Groups" to give you encouragement, and special information. Alma does charge dues, but if you explain your financial position, they may take a token dues. One of the best, oldest and largest registries is the International Soundex Reunion Registry, P.O. Box 2312, Carson, NEV 89702 (PH 702-882-7755). ISRR has been registering adoptees, birthfamilies, etc., since the mid or late 1970s. CUBS is another organization that helps adoptees and birth families in Reunion. Please check out the "Search Assistance" and "Especially for Adoptees" (and our "Book Shop") for other information that will be of great help to you. Your birthmom may not have begun a search for you yet, though. I waited until Susan was 21 before I posted my information on a Registry ... she didn't find the registry until 1986, when she was going on 33; but the Reunion movement was just in its infancy in the 1970s and has become much more publicized today. Good luck! Hugs, Carol
