Searching for daughter born 1/3/88 at Highlands in Kansas City, MO

My daughter was born on 1/3/88 at a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri through Highlands Child Placement Home. I am not getting any help whatsoever through Highlands; they just send me "sorry" letters! Please contact me with any info!

Thanks, Rachel

I was at Highlands, 1983

My son was born 3-30-83 at University Hospital and I was at Highlands. He is now 26 and I just recieved a call last week from Joyce, Georgias assistant to say my son was looking for me. I gave my permission to give him all my info and waited for her return call. She said that he thinks he may of found me on the internet and she said that was good because Georgia had decided to make him wait and get used to the idea and NOT give him my info after all. This is of course after promising me that as long as he was over 21 and it was his choice they would give him my contact information. Their answer was to register with ISRR - International Soundex Reunion Registry which seemed sort of dumb since we know who handled our adoption and they called to get permission from each of us. But I went ahead and did it since she said that is the registry they suggest. Highlands treated me horribly when I was there, I don't know why I should think they would handle it any different now. Funny, now they do open adoption but for those of us that were under the old stance we are still treated like dirt. nice... I included a section of Georgias letter to me from awaile back. I only this week registed with ISRR because it seemed like a mute point. Wish she would of mentioned that they will never give out info, must be a liability thing, or maybe just a power thing, I don't know but either way I do know that my son is looking for me and I pray that any day I will hear from him.

You may write to the adoptive parents/ adoptee/ birthmother a letter; send it to Highlands; and Highlands will forward it to the address we have on file. Under law, Highlands cannot reveal any identifying information (i.e. last name, cit, state, or phone number). You may include an email address (be very sure not to have you last name in the address or have opened the account with you last name). You may choose to register with International Reunion Registry at ISRR - International Soundex Reunion Registry or phone (775) 882-7755. Many triads have had success with this service.

Good luck, hope this helps, Trish
