I'm hoping a birthmother can help me sort out something about my birth/adoption. Supposedly I was at the DePaul Home in Cleveland, Ohio, for the first 3 1/2 months of my life before I was adopted. This was in 1968. Is this possible? I've read some messages here saying babies were not kept there. Was there a separate DePaul home for infants?
Thanks! |

That is very possible. Here in Ohio, the rules did not change until the 1980s saying that infants and small children could not be in institutional settings. Back in the 1960s it was very common for a child to be held back from adoption for a few months. The agencies wanted to make sure that the children were "OK" before presenting them to the (paying customers) ummm, adoptive parents.
