Wondering where to begin...I gave up a daughter at the age of 15, and i dont have alot of information. Wondering and needing any suggestions that might be avaiable to birthmoms. All the info i have is a girl born May 1983 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

I am a birth mother in search of her birth daughter born 6-6-71. I began my search at the agency which handled the adoption. Good luck in your search.

Do you know the hospital that you were born at? You could try and get some information there.

Shawnie,
I suggest you contact the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. They should have record of the adoption and can direct you to services available to you in your search!
Best of luck to you!!
Warm Hugs,
Sally

For adoption related information and records contact the adoption agency that facilitated the adoption or the office below:

New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services
Division for Children, Youth and Families
129 Pleasant Street
Concord, NH 03301
(603) 271-4707
Fax: (603) 271-4729

Non-Identifying Information: Adopted adults age 21 or older and adoptive parents may obtain non-identifying information.

Identifying Information: Adopted adults age 21 or older may receive information regarding the birth parents if the birth parents consent to the release of this information. Birth parents may receive information on adopted adult age 21 or older if the adopted adult has signed a consent form releasing this information. If consent has not been filed, an agency may contact the birth parents or adopted adult for consent.

Original Birth Certificate: An adoptee must petition the court in which the adoption was finalized.

An access to adoption records bill was introduced in New Hampshire. SB 335 would permit the release of the original birth certificate to an adult adoptee. It allows a birthparent to express his or her preference for contact by filing a contact preference form. For more information on how you can provide testimony in person or in writing please contact:
