sorry
I am sorry that the info I sent you did not help. From the way the other people were talking about it I was hoping it would turn out to be a jackpot of info for you.

Wow...I thought gladney even had their own post-adoption program and everything. Look I am in contact with some of the girls from my support group I used to attend there...I have the email addy's at home not here, so let me email tonight and see if I cant find a specific name of someone you can talk to.
Of course their response may differ depending on what is actually in the file...but I was under the impression, and have actually known of situations where they called adoptive parents to ask about pictures, etc... so I know they follow up and have a post-adoption department. Hang in there! Have they at least given you your non-id? |

Let me ask a couple things first..I know they CANNOT tell you anything without the birthmother's permission.
1. Did you get your non-id info? 2. were you aware of the registry services that they offer? here is the link. http://www.adoptionsbygladney.com/ht.../registry.html When you say it is hard to get info...does that mean ID info? Or just in general? Thanks, Christine (I just want to know where you are at and what I should be asking about) |

Check out SEARCH & REUNION FORUMS
You can find a treasure trove of guidelines and suggestions on searching in the Search & Reunion Forums.
I assume that you've posted your info on the Adoption Registry here at http://www.adoption.com and that you've checked out all of the information provided. Sometimes just listing on the free on-line registries brings response and sometimes you seem to search forever. But dreams DO come true! It happened to me 18 years ago when my daughter found me, via clues I left when she turned 21. I always advise those in Search to take time out to read as much as possible about search and reunion so you can be prepared when contact is made. Like the Search process, Reunions take a lot of time and can be pretty stressful, especially for younger adoptees. Preparation is the key, and that is offered not only in these Forums, but also in the articles in the archives of Adoption Week, the weekly e-magazine published by Adoption.com. The articles are written by individual adoptees and birthmoms, and experts in the field. You'll find the archieves at: http://library.adoption.com/information/ You can choose from a variety of options, for example Birth-Parents-After-Adoption/ or Reunion Stories, etc. Or you can even select specific articles by author's name. Example: several stories written by me over the years of reunion are found under my name. (((grin))). You can spend a week browsing through the archives, and still not have read all the material offered. Take a look .... Good Luck and HUGS, Carol Bird
