You surprised her. That is not always a good thing. She may not be ready. But if you leave up your myspace account she will know how to get ahold of you when she is ready. How old is she?

Hi, I was wondering what your birthdaughters name is. I am 25 1/2 years old and I have removed my myspace page. I am terribly sorry if i am not the girl, but it does not hurt to ask.

I was a single Mom living with my parents, when I met my future husband. At the time my daughter was four years old. When we decided to get married, my mother called Social Services and accused me of all sorts of horrid things. To make a long story short my mother eventually adopted my daughter and I was forbidden contact. Now that she will be 18 soon I want to find her and rebuild our relationship. My question is how do I go about this without hurting my daughter (especially if she still believes my mother's accusations)? Which she did at one point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In some states the bmom can ask for and get the original BC.. I did this in my State, WA. I also got a copy of the basic non identifying information from the county record. All legally obtained. This came with first names of the aparents, and the name they choose for my/their son. I also got copies of my medical records from the doctor's office. He had retired but the new doc still had my records. In WA they cannot alter them in any way when you ask. Your medical information is your property. In the doctors records I found two different possible aparent names. one crossed out, one not. Since I had possible last name, and first names, since I knew the doctor and hospital, date of birth, sex of baby, I applied for the amended BC. I got it. I was very surprised. Scared too. So at that point I went to a couple of searchers who helped me find him. Since they don't change the record number on the BC that was compared on the orginal & amended. They were one and the same. I tried the 1800 search number, I don't know if they are still around. They would give you a list of men or women with your child's birthdate in that hospital and & state. I got lucky, there was only one man with 2/29 birthdate in the whole state that year. An adoptee who is with Bastard Nation found me an old address for him in CA and the name of the girl he lived with. The strange stuff, my bson and my raised daughter have the same middle name. I never met the aparents until 33 years after he was adopted. I just like the name Lee. His ex girl friend has my first name Teresa, and a very similar sounding last name. My last name (my adopted name) when I had him was S*****baugh, hers was H****baugh. There were many, many things that were similar. Start looking, or hire a search who can get into the records. Either way, it can still be a long search or a short one. A friend sent her info to ISSR and a week later her Bdau sent hers in. The phone call from ISSR came a day later. good luck.

Scarlet, I am the Assistant Registrar at the ISRR (Carson City, Nevada) and your closing info (especially on this list) has made my day!! We have this kind of experience all the time... one half of the reunion knows about us and the other half has just learned about us - but It's ALL Good because we get them together and that's what it's all about.Have a great day... hugz, Cully |

I never remember if it is one S and two R's or two S' and one R.. I think I might remember now.. I still talk to the bmom in question, she had also found her own 3 bsisters and her bmom, the bmom was an adoptee too. She was doing all this searching at the same time, imagine her emotions... yet she always looked composed. We were in the same bmom support group. Her bdau is married and living in Canada now..

Hi Tammy, First you want to register with the reunion registry of the State where your child was born, and you want to get the Non-identifying information on your child/his or her adoption. Then you want to register with the ISRR (the International Soundex Reunion Registry). We were founded in 1975 by Emma May Vilardi (the daughter of an Adoptee) in Carson City, Nevada. We are a Non-profit and registration is FREE ISRR is a mutual consent (we do not search) registry for anyone desiring a reunion with next-of-kin. You can write or call us at: ISRR, P.O. Box 2312, Carson City, NV 89702 (775) 882-7755 Thanks for your interest - We would love to help you. Cully (an Adoptee) |
