My friend who had cancer...

I don't know if you'll remember me telling you about my friend who had been diagnosed with cancer in March but she died on Father's day. I meant to let you know about it when it happened. I've been having a lot of emotions about it.

Although the family is sad she's gone they are relieved she's gone because she was in so much pain towards the end that she had to be kept sedated and there were times when she couldn't get the pain under control at all and it was excruciating.

I'm going to miss her so much but I'm glad she didn't have to suffer for any longer than she did because just the few months she did suffer was almost more than she could handle.

Rylee, I'm sorry that your friend passed away. But, yeah, I know that sense of relief when a loved one dies after being in excruciating pain from cancer.

The hardest part for me about getting older is going to the funerals of so many of my friends and family members. It seems that there are more funerals to attend each passing year. I am comforted, though, with the belief that they are in a far better place now, a new home where there is no more pain or suffering.

Let yourself grieve for your friend, Rylee...and then celebrate all the years you enjoyed together. You're in my thoughts and prayers...
