My Mother's Surgery :(
My mother had surgery today and did not do well. She is paralized from the waist down and we're not sure if it's permanant or temporary.
I will explain more later but I wanted you to know that she is in need of prayers pretty bad right now. I'm so exhausted both physically and emotionally from this ordeal today I can barely type this out. My eyes are blurry from crying so much and my head is aching. Her surgery was only supposed to be 4 to 6 hours and it was 7 hours. There were complications during surgery as well. Then she wakes up and can't move her lower body parts. I just hope and pray that it's only swelling inside her spine causing this and once it's gone down she'll get her legs back. I hope so. She's so upset about this she can barely stand it. I probably won't be in a lot for the next while. I'll be up at the hospital with my mom most days until she's able to come home. I just wanted to let you know how it went. Rylee |

Rylee, I am so sorry to hear this news about your mom. Did she have back surgery?? Do you know what the docs did during the operation? If it was spinal surgery, there's a good chance the paralysis is being caused by temporary swelling within the spinal canal. This must be so scary for both her and you.
I'm keeping your mom (and you, too!) in my prayers tonight. Please keep us updated. ![]()

Thank you all. I just got home from the hospital with my mom. I spent the day there with her. My sister was there too.
My mom is still pretty much the same but she did have some very small improvements that are giving us some encouragement. She started feeling tingling sensations in the bottom of one of her feet and the other she was able to move her toes just a little. That's very encouraging. She still can't feed herself or do much else but at least this is a start. I hope it continues to improve. It was surgery in her spine. She had a tumor inside the spine. It was a very difficult tumor to remove. The doctor said it was harder material than it was first thought to be. I'm still very exhausted but I do have a little more hope of her recovery. I need to go relax for awhile. Thank you so much for your prayers for my mom. Rylee |

Sending some thoughts and prayers. Spinal surgery is so scary, but hopefully the loss of sensation is only temporary.
