Bmother searching - adoption finalized..... where?

Most adoptions take place in the city/province in which the baby was born. Do you remember the hospital/Home. If you remember the doctor's name, that's a lead.

Canada offers quite a bit of help. There's some search aids offered at http://www.ouareau.com/adoptee/contents.htm
and http://www.ouareau.com/adoptee/sbm.htm

Guidelines for searching can be found at http://www.adopting.org/serch.html (yes, it is spelled SERCH)
And at http://www.adopting.org/birthfam.html

You might also want to check out the REUNION REGISTRIES.
There are quite a few of them on-line ... most are free.
We have one here at http://www.adopting.org/ just click FREE SEARCH REGISTRY on the index on the top of any page (there's one at the top of the content page where you found this board.)

When working with the Registries, always run a search first; if there are no matches, REGISTER your information.
Search and register by GENDER, DATE OF BIRTH, CITY/PROVENCE OF BIRTH.

You will find other on-line registries at
http://www.bmoms.net (Sunflower Birthmom website) The directory of Registries is way down on the opening page.
Sunflower's registry is by Decade of Birth, but there is a BIG directory of other Registries farther down on the page.
And (excuse the name ... this is an Adoptee-run website)
http://www.bastards.org/library/search.html

The largest registry in the world is NOT on-line, though you can print out the Registration form from http://www.isrr.net/
Fill out the form and mail it to INTERNATIONAL SOUNDEX REUNION REGISTRY(ISRR), P.O. Box 2312, Carson City, Nev 89702-2312.
They will run a search, and if no matches, will add your information. If there's a match, they will call or write you right away. This is a Free Registry, but they accept donations.

I suggest, too, that you prepare yourself by reading as much as you can about reunions and adoptees. We have many very helpful articles in our Library here at http://www.adopting.org/readroom.html
One that I suggest you print out NOW and commit to memory is
TEN STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL REUNION at
http://www.adopting.org/ReunionAdvice.html

Please feel free to write to me at any time. I also have a Birthmother's Chat here (click CHAT on the Index at top of page) every Monday night beginning at 8 PM EST. It is held in the BIRTHFAMILY CHAT ROOM.

Good luck and HUGS, Carol

Hello Judy,
I have a few questions. First, how do you know for a fact that the child you gave up was a male child? Did you see the baby personally and know for a definant fact the child is male? Or could there be a chance that they were not truthful and the baby was actually female?

hi Jules,

you are replying to a post that was created in 2001. Judy's last post on this site was in 2002. Most likely she doesn't visit this site anymore.
