Finally telling my son
Hiya everyone,
I was such a wreck this morning. I couldn't even function at work. Thank god I have a wonderful boss. We talked for awhile & then I left. He said to take whatever time I need off to deal with this. I decided to go to the adoption agency. The woman was not available & probably won't be til the end of the week.....but I left there determined to tell Robby. I called him at his dad's house & asked him to come up to the house for a bit....didn't tell him anything else at that point. Once we got there, I told him there was something I've been wanting to tell him for a very long time but have been worried as to how he would react. I told him there was a possibility he would be very angry with me & handed him bus fare & told him he was welcome to leave at any time if he was that upset. He took it so well. There were lots of tears on both our parts. I asked him to not be mad at anyone else for not telling him....be mad at me. He kept assuring me he wasn't mad....he didn't hate me....that he understood & then he handed me back the bus fare. I told him I can only hope that "billy" is healthy, happy, & grew up to be as great of a kid as he is. I told him that for as much of a pain in my hiney he is sometimes, he's really an awesome kid......lol. That got him laughing. We hugged for a long time.......he just kept patting me on the back tellin me it was ok. I told him that if there's anything he ever wants to know to just ask. I'd be happy to tell him what I know. Robby definitely wants to find him when he turns 18. I told him I look forward to doing that one day.....and now we can do that together. Toni |

Congratulations!
I'm so happy for you that everything went well! When my mother told us about our brother, it was a totally off hand " oh by the way" and none of us really got the chance to talk to her about it and our feelings about having a brother out there somewhere.Congratulations - your son sounds wonderful, and although it must have been terrifying for you, you handled this in a very loving way - how lucky you both are to have each other, and how lucky "Billy" will be when he finds you both! |
