New birthmother to the forum!

I have a rough time with my son's birthday as well. He'll be 17 this year on October 30. I think of him every day, however any occasion that has anything to do with children; Halloween, Christmas..well..all Holidays for that matter are the worst times for me. It's good to find someplace for support!

This is a good place for that. Those birthdays when you don't know anything are difficult to say the least..

Birthdays are tough. Instead of being sad I always found myself angry during the month of august and didn't know why. It took a while to realize it was because of my son's birthday. My son turned eighteen last month and I spent his birthday with him for the first time since he was born. Instead of it being the happiest moment of my life I reverted to the past seventeen years and was still angry. Crazy but I guess it is conditioning. He contacted me seven months ago and it has been a long journey back together. I hope next year I will only feel the joy and not the anger at the loss. Just because I have him now, which I am eternally grateful for, doesn't take away the pain of the past. I am going to work on it though and I hope you have the chance that I have had. Just hold him close to your heart.
best wishes
shaun

I spent this first B'day ever with my son this year, he's 37! What a mixture of emotions. We're working on getting to know each other & it's been so joyful. I was always so sad & depressed around his b'day before. A time for me to focus on my loss, I guess. I'm so glad that wondering is over.
