Ok, Everyone Tell me About the Hospital Pics - did you get them even? Was it a hassle

I'm just curious. I know some people had problems but I don't want to have a B*tch about the hospital / aparents thread. I'm curious if due to the adoption plan, were they taken, were they ordered, could you order them, and lastly, what do you think of them (I generally think of them as the ugliest pic a baby will ever take!) but cuz she was MY baby then I think it's absolutely beautiful.

As for me I had one for my son, I think from a package ordered by the group (bparents/ aparents) and my mom and I got some and they got some.

The next time with my daughter (recent) I didn't get them. The amom said they weren't cute enough <go figger> so months later I finally decided to try to order them without the ID order code and everything. I succeeded! I let the customer service lady choose the pose but it's great. I got her birth name on the pic but I feel that since it was her name then, it makes sense.

The photo lady came around and asked if I wanted pics taken. The aparents were present when his pic was taken so we were all there together and chose the pose together. Because I was the mom on the hospital papers the pics had to be sent to my home. The next time the aparents and my son visited me, I gave them to his parents and they told me to keep more then I even needed. I still have extras. My son didn't look newborn and is very alert so they are not "ugly" pics. I love his hosptial pic! My first son (I parented), his hosptial pic he was asleep and they shook him and flashed the light in his eyes so he looks very startled. Not relaxed at all, like his brother.

I'm sorry...I totally have nothing to add. I just wanted to tell you Christine that your daughter is beautiful (I agree with Volfe most of the time I think the pictures are the worst picture a baby will get). However, I truly love her picture.

I only have hospital picks from my youngest son. I wish I had some from the oldest.

Thanks for letting me intrude (not that you had a choice). LOL!

That's a great pic Christine, she's looking contemplative there I think.

And quite a shock of hair I might add!

I don't have pics of my oldest either, the archaic hospital I was at didn't have the funds for that.

But I love to see them always. And show the kids when they are older. I don't have any scanned yet -- yet!

Thank you, I was shocked at the hair, too! My first daughter was red headed and she was bald until she was two! LOL! But my birthdaugher was very late and A LOT bigger than she was-- she never did lose the hair... I loved that pic, too...I brought those angel PJs just for it!!

I cant get the pic. The aparents cant get the pic "because their foster parents right now". We both wanted the pics. So tell me more about this calling and getting the pic, I'd like to try that, but have no information. All I know is that it was taken and no one seems to be able to get them except the agency. I've talked to them, and they said they'd see what they can do... Who knows. I just talked to the agency last mon. so I dont know yet whats going on. Got pretty frustrated the other night cause I wanted to put it up next to my daughters pic from the hospital (not a cute pic either, but she's my kid nonetheless) I'm sorta sentimental. I have my first day of school pic and hers next to each other on our wall, and her handprint and mine at age 5 hanging next to each other. I guess I'll just have to get a handprint from the same age to hang, but I just wish I wouldnt have had such a struggle with the photo.

Shellie-- YOU should be able to get the pics!! Ok if they took the pics, there should have been a # and it might be in your hospital papers...it is like the number they give you when you get your film developed! You should be able call them and check on them (not the hospital the pic place....) they should be under that number and under YOUR name (it doesnt matter that you relinquished!) Most likely there should be an order form in your hospital papers....with that # on them! Good Luck!

I have the first set of numbers- the ones that identify which hospital you were in. But unfortunately the staff at the time didnt feel it necessary to fill in the rest. So I have half a number. I'm hoping the agency did call them to figure it out, but I'm not sure they'll do anything at all, especially if its going to be as much of a hassle for them as it has been so far for me. The staff was polite and mostly nice while I was there. I dont think they intentionally left the number blank, well at least I hope they wouldnt do something like that, but they did put in a form to send back and their policy on handling SITUATIONS like adoption, and how the pics wont be released without the permission of the agency on agency letterhead and notarized. It had to be sent back to them (FirstPhoto Company) and then I'll get a pic... maybe... depends on whether the agency will send that in and do the necessary stuff. Now to deal with the insurance company...

PS Maia thanks, and I'm going to try that as soon as its morning here.

Wow...that is crazy! I am so sorry Shellie... Here you cant relinquish for 72 hours...so I guess it comes down to it is nobody's business at the hospital to make those kind of decisions...they will never know if the mother signs or not! I cant believe the Gall of people!!! That is WAY over the line. IMO.

Shellie!!

I checked and that's the same company I called

https://www.firstfoto.com/firstfoto/CheckNum.asp

I didn't have the number and told them I lost the proof (we got it in the hospital, it went home with the aparents, and since they didn't want to order them I didn't ask them for it (for I figured they would think I was going behind their back -- which I was -- I just didnt want them to know).

The customer service lady just asked for the date and my name and her name. They had 3 or 4 pics to choose from. I asked her to pick the best one She did! They have you spell the name, ask the length (I forgot it) and the weight. They put that on the pic.

I think the smallest package was 30 bucks or so. I forget.

It was worth it!!!

Here we dont relinquish our rights in the hospital either. I didnt sign until I was out of the hospital for a week already. They have no way of knowing whether I signed or not either! I could have changed my mind and still had all this hassle.

Let us know how it goes (I'm excited I KNOW you can get them!).
Yeah you just pretend you are still your babies momma, tell them you're tired, she's big, etc.

I'm rootin' for ya! And so is Christine
