How do I reach out to 1/2 siblings?
My mouth was hanging on the floor during the first conversation with my birthmother after reunion when I asked if she had any children besides me. FIVE! She has five kids!
As the EXTREME youngest in my a-family (my sister is 39, I'm 21) I was pretty much raised as an only child. I am so excited to have 5 younger siblings in my b-family ages 9, 11, 12, 14, and 16! I have met them all and they are terrific. I am in regular e-mail contact with the youngest which has been awesome. I get to talk to my 11 and 12 year old bros about video games and about being a teenage girl with my 14 and 16 year old sisters. But I want more. I missed out on being raised with them, and we live in different cities. I wish I could take them out to do fun things. I want to be the big older sister! They seem like they are all very excited about having me in their lives, but I know this must be difficult for them. For one, all of the attention has been on me since this reunion is VERY NEW. Also, I have a different father (though I am very close to my b-mom's husband, who offered to marry her and raise me as his own when I was born). Any ideas on what I could do to make them feel more comfortable? I am dying to be part of this family! |

In my opinion I would take things slow. I was reunited with my family and I rushed alot of things. My bfamily has alot of drama and I realise now (being to late in my case) moving to the same city as my older bsisters was a mistake. I left a great job to come here and I have had nothing but trouble since. Mind you now not all cases are like this. Everyone is unique. How does your afamily feel?
