Awwww...
Several days ago my b-mom emailed me a pic of her when she was 2. My jaw dropped - she looked just like I did at that age! I've always wanted to see myself in somone, and finally did!
I was excited and wanted to show her mine, so on Sunday morning I emailed her quite a few pics of me between ages 10 mos and 6 yrs, mostly around age 2. It was quite a project because I don't have a scanner. LOL So I had to take pictures of the pictures and lighten them a bit with Adobe. I've been holding my breath all day, wondering if she got them because the last time I sent some pics, only one was viewable. I've also been kind of wondering if she would send a b'day card, or just wait to say it in person. But I kept thinking surely on this first b'day after finding each other she'd send a card...<gulp>...wouldn't she? I checked my mailbox a few mins ago and there was a note saying they'd been gone all day, and she LOVED the pics. Said she was astounded at how alike we looked. In another email she put little smiley clouds n' stuff, and wrote: "I'm sending you this b-day greeting, just to let you know I've not forgotten you. Never have. Love you, Mom" Awww shucks... 'Bout the best card ever. Contentedly, heartbeat

Heartbeat- I know what you mean. When I got the pictures of my b-mom I look just like her and what is even more weird is my grandparents sent me one of when she was about 4 and she looks just like my DD who will be 4 in a few weeks. I sent them back a ton of pictures There was one picture for each year ranging from birth to 19. They loved them.

lahdh4 & SchmennaLeigh - thanks for being here to share that with. As I'm sure you understand, some things happen or are said that just can't be fully appreciated anywhere but here.
Sniffles - isn't that cool?! There are certain things I've ached for since I can remember - b-mom's first name, my nationality, mom to wish me a happy birthday, and to look at least vaguely like someone. As I told her, when everyone's going on about how the baby looks 'just like so and so', I'm the person who's thinking "yeah, right. sheesh...it looks like a baby with a big round head stuck on a chubby body." With my talent for cynicism and sarcasm, I don't think I imagined the resemblance. We'll see...I look forward to looking at more pics that haven't been emailed. You must have some of those strong, dominant genes in your family. You've probably seen families like that - you know at a glance that they're related, even going back to the great-greats. Like the redheads in Harry Potter. LOL heartbeat

NP!!!
I am just happy that you were able to see yourself in someone. I am being told that J looks like me and while I still see alot of her bdad in her I do have a picture of myself and her at about the same age and it is like looking at my twin. My niece and I have a picture like that as well so in some wierd way we are triplets. Kindof wierd but comforting you know?

Absolutely! Since I don't have kids, finding my b-mom, and then finding out we looked alike has gone a long way towards helping me feel connected - to someone, somewhere. heartbeat

Apparently we do have very strong genes. Both of my kids look like me. DD has been called little me by everyone who has know me as a kid. (i am pretty sure she is going to hate that as she gets older) When I look at the family picture my grandparents sent me you can see how strongly the resemblance is. It is amazing.

I guess my resemblance to my mom isn't just in my imagination - she sent several pics of me as an adult in a batch of her own pics to my great-aunt. Her son was looking through them, saw me, and asked, "When did you get this taken?"

Heartbeat..I just celebrated my 1st post reunion birthay with my bmom and her card brought me to tears...Nothing more than a card that said Daughter..I loved you then and I love you still...Happy Birthday..
When I got those first pics my hubby was amazed at the resemblence ( I am cynical like you and could not see it) but then noticed we even held our hands in the same way sitting at the table...then I saw a picture of one of my cousins..he could have been my youngest boys brother..it was very eerie..good eerie but eerie just the same! Now my next hurdle..out face to face next Thursday!!Onward and upward! ![]()
