as for the children being in a licensed daycare... that applies even if the foster parent is with them? I'm simply babysitting people's children in THEIR home. I would not be leaving the foster child alone with anyone (and am aware of the laws). To my understanding, that woman who watched the neighbor's children was doing it in her home. I saw that article, too. I can see how she'd be breaking laws that way. However I have 3-4 kids full time, they are all siblings, and i'm not over any limits. I'm not sure I understand why their home would have to become licensed...

As for daycare laws... from what I (and the mother) understand, it's anything over 6 children here. But I will raise this issue when we attend our classes and make sure that this is all legal. If not, I will work things out so that it is.

Good for you! It's great that you did this. You will feel so much better knowing that you are doing things the right way. Sometimes we all just need someone to say "hey, that's wrong"! Everyone makes mistakes.
