Foster/Foster Adopt in Illinois
For all those Illinois Foster parents! We are newbie's almost licensed, taking PRIDE classes. How has your experience been with the state? Are there any support groups that meet once a month to meet other foster parents? This is a great forum, but even better to chat with other foster parents from my own state!

We're also in Illinois!! We're in central IL. I don't know of any support groups in our area as of yet, but hoping that i'll find one soon...or maybe work on starting one myself!
We're working with an agency here in our city, and so far, have been very happy with them.

Cindi 7-21-00 Married Rick Bio Mom to 4... all older and on there own Step Mom to 2... older and on there own 1-31-04 Rontae placed in our arms through domestic adoption  4-18-06 first foster placement N & J 4-18-07 TPR done for N & J 4-28-07 took gaurdianship of our grandson B 7-09-07 filed to adopt N & J  waiting for court date to adopt N & J6-04-08 Grandson B went back to live with his mother  8-19-08 Signed the Sub. Agreement Paperwork  2-19-09 Got the call...We have a court date set to adopt!!  3-06-09 New foster placement (Skippy) 3-20-09 Adoption of N and J Finalized!!  8-28-09 Skippy moved to new foster home to be with his sibs!

Newly licensed
Hi,
I am in Springfield and was just licensed August 6th. I am working with a private agancy and would love to talk to others in this area about their experiences. My agency said they were working on a support group but I don't know when that might take place. Shelly

HI all! Welcome to IL fosterparenting!! I am in the central region also and we have a support group that meets the third tuesday of the month. I am around B-N if you want more detail feel free to PM me!
