Home/Space Requirements in Iowa

My dh and I are very interested in fostering infants. I am trying to find some information online about the requirements for the homestudy such as if an infants crib can be in the parents' room and how much space is required to do so. Or if not, how much bedroom space is required. We are not looking to adopt at this time but we won't completely throw it out of the question either.

This is what I know...

We just finished our PS-Mapp classes Monday evening and were told to expect our license by about the first of September! There is a lot of information on the IFAPA website Foster Care Resources - Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parent Association including the foster parent handbook. This is some of what I found:

**Provide at least 40 square feet of area per child, if for multiple occupancy.
When sleeping rooms meet only the minimum space requirements, space in
other parts of the home shall be provided for study and play.
**Allow for grouping of children that takes into consideration their age and
sex. Children six years of age or older shall not share a room with a child of
the opposite sex. Children two years or older shall be provided bedroom
space other than in the foster parents’ bedroom. A foster child of any age
shall not share a bedroom with any unlicensed adult living in the household.

There is lots of good information out on that site. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask on here or pm me!

Thanks so much! I'll have to look into that site more when I get some free time. I should add the reason I asked was because we have a 2 bedroom place and I already have 2 bio daughters who share the other bedroom. Realistically, we cannot afford to move to a different place with more bedrooms.
