Question Fee for out of state adoption

Does anyone know when you adopt outside of your state (I believe there is $6,000 fee per child) Is this an upfront lump sum payment or something that they set you up with on a 'payment plan' for a lack of better words?

That isn't the case here. You might want to check with your state regs, or agency rules, to see who is actually charging it. That will help you get more accurate answers to this question.

Other then maybe paying for your homestudy, you shouldn't be paying a fee to adopt from foster care. Especially a fee as high as $6000. That doesn't sound right at all. Most people that adopt from foster care do it because there is little to no cost involved.

thanks for the info! I must have misunderstood what was being said. I'll definitely ask our worker for clarification! On a happy note, We got to read our homestudy Wednesday! Everything will be certified once our prints come back! We had to do them again bc our worker accidentally used the wrong cards the first time- she used 'volunteer' cards. No biggie but she felt terrible!
