How long unitl you got your license and a placement?
After you reviewed the homestudy your Social worker wrote and you signed off on it, How long did it take for you to get your license? How long was it from time of licensing for you to get your first placement?

10/20/08- Orientation about Foster care and Adoption
11/1/08- Started MAPP Classes
1/31/09- Received MAPP Certificate of completion
3/17/09- Received background check clearance
5/27/09-Home study officially approved
6/29/09- Home Officially opened and on "THE LIST"
8/13/09- Received license in the mail
11/13/09- rang regarding a 2 month old and 2 year old as possible matches
11/16/09- Paternal Family filed papers for custody of 2 year old :sad:
11/17/09- Informed 2 month old actually a and judge wants her placed in Pre-adoptive home ASAP
11/23/09- Told Foster Mom wants to try keep 2 month old. Waiting for Law guardian decision

Patiently waiting to hear more

As I recall from 7 years ago I started classes in Feb and was licensed in June. I got my first placement in Aug because I was going out of the country on vacation and decided to wait until I returned to have a child placed with me. Since then there has only been one brief time that I have not had at least 2 children in my home.

I started the process in April and was finished on September 3rd.By the time I was actually licensed I had recieved a call on August 30 and September 2.
The second one I took and they stayed til March 24th. I am anixiously awaiting my next placement

Timing
I received certification in December and we haven't had a placement yet for foster children. I think it largely depends on your age range and area.

I started classes in Oct and finished in Dec. SW wrote our homestudy in Feb and we were licensed by March
25th. We received our first phone call and foster placement March 31 and many calls after that.

I guess it depends on the area as well because I have not recieved not one call since my placement left in March. I would love for them to call at least once.....

The license was approved on Friday and I was placed with a one month old on the following Wednesday!!

Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

We started process in Jan. - licensed April 7th, we got first call and placement on April 30th. We are also foster/adopt, I don't know if that matters...Good Luck..I am sure your phone will ring soon...

Did classes March-May; certified in July (mom's fingerprints took awhile). got first call in October. However, I could only take 2 and they had to be the same sex.

Ours was expedited because they had a child they were interested in placing with us for pre-adoptive, so after we signed off on the homestudy, THAT NIGHT we did respite for the child. We got the license the following week in the mail.

Licensed as foster/adoptive parents 10/31/08.
G respite visits on weekends of 10/31/08 and 11/7/08.
G pre-adoptive on 11/14/08.
TPR granted Jan 15, 2009.
Waiting period for finalization of TPR over Jan 25, 2009.
6 month waiting period over, G available for us to adopt, 5/22/09.
Signed Petition for Adoption June 4, 2009.
Finalization June 22, 2009.

Ours will be a pre-adoptive placement. Thus far the plan is that they will move in the moment our license is open. Not waitng for the pony express. The expected date is coming soon.

We started classes in 1/09 and finshed/licensed on May 1st. We got out first call and placement exactly 15 days after being licensed.

Scarlet baby girl-ru'd 9/24/09 back with me 11/4/09 and ru'd once again 12/01/09
My little man 3 months- went to another home with his siblings.
I miss them all so much. Forever in my thoughts and prayers.
