We are licensed!!!

For those who don't know our story... we were on the "fast track to getting licesed". We got our paperwork in August, Prints/background checks and ALL paperwork done in record time. We did the Home Visit before doing the PRIDE clases at the beginning of October. We should have been done and licensed by October 4th.

But... my hubbys fingreprints failed. Bad quality... or actually... no quality. He has washed off his prints.

None-the-less... were asked to do them again, and again, and again. Each time waiting the 6-8 weeks for them to fail.

Finally ~ it was determined that he would never be "fingerprintable" and went on to an "alternative approval".

Now, 7 months later... We are LICENSED! : )

I just wanted to say congrats. We too are hoping to adopt one more, we have a bio daughter who is 22 months. It sounds like your journey to getting approved was a long one...here's hoping that the rest of the journey is better!

We start orientation on Tuesday so have a long way to go!

Congrtas!!! We just recieved our license the beginning of this month! It is so exciting!!!

Life in Gobber land

July 2008- first home visit/assigned case worker

August 2008- Approved/finger print clearance by DES

Sept 2008- Began PS-MAP classes

Oct 2008- 2nd meeting/ individual meetings

Nov 2008- completed PS-MAP classes

Dec 2008- physicals completed, all paper work turned in,
including life book

Jan 5th 2009- last home study meeting/paid court fees

Feb 2009- submitted to juvenile court system for adoption license.

March 3rd 2009- received adoption license

March 6th 2009- first call for a sibling group:

March 13th- submitted our homestudy for sib group of 3

Thanks everyone! What a long, hard road. *whew* It will be worth it though, when we can make the difference in the life of a child.

How do you wash off fingerprints? Does he use that Lava soap? My dad is in construction and has to use harsh chemicals to clean his hands. Asphalt is very hard to remove. I wonder if he still has fingerprints?
