It seems the "how many are licenced & waiting for placement" thread has been good luck for the posters, so I thought we needed one for those of us still waiting to be licenced.

So, unashamedly borrowing from that thread...

I thought it would be fun to see how many of us here are waiting to be licensed. Then we can keep this thread going with updates of when we get licenced, phone calls we get and first placement announcements. Please say what state or province you are hoping to get licenced in.

I'll start... we are in Ontario and waiting to be approved to go to classes. Our background checks, etc. are done, and our application is sitting on a supervisor's desk since Jan 5th, awaiting approval.

I was checking out the local CAS (Children's Aid Services) website and found they have Foster Parents Association meetings every month, so we are going to our first meeting tomorrow night.

We have our background checks done and have a home assessment scheduled for Tuesday afternoon...so I will be cleaning and making sure all the electrical outlets have plugs this weekend. We are hoping to get into classes in the next month. Our problems is getting 5 free Sat in a row.

We are wanting to be licensed in OK.

We are currently waiting as well. We just mailed the application on Jan. 26th and got a call yesterday. She will be here on the 19th for an interview and to do paperwork. After that we don't really know what will happen.

i am waiting to be licensed. i have had my homestudy and everything has been submitted just waiting for my background checks to come back from the states i have lived in. hopefully i will be licensed by the end of this month

Waiting to be be licensed in West Virginia. It seems like everyone else on here does a homestudy before attending classes. Is that correct? Here, they tell me we have to go through all of the training and get licensed first before even scheduling a homestudy.
How are everyone elses classes going? Do you think they will be helpful? The classes I have been attending are kind of a joke..... It's pretty much just listening to stories from other FPs about how bad the kids are... But I am only on the 4th class, 4 more to go. I should be finished with classes at the end of Feb. Hope they get better!

I have had home visits, but I think the home study is yet to come, probably not till after the classes.

same here, you have to take the classes before the homestudy is even scheduled.

I am waiting to be licensed and hopefully it will happen before the end of February. Everything has been turned into DCF, but now I have one more form to sign (psychotheraputic info). In Florida DCF must give an applicant an answer within 30 days.

We've submitted our preliminary paperwork and the SAFE surveys. I have my medical report filled out along with the form they gave me for our son. DH won't be able to get to the doctor until after the first of March (new insurance).

We are going through an agency that works with all (or at least a lot) of counties so we will have a large pool to draw from - which is important to us since our ultimate goal is to adopt.

Our caseworker said that as soon as she got the SAFE forms she'd schedule our first home study visit. I've started obsessively cleaning... LOL DH thinks she won't look in closets and I said 'wanna bet?' They aren't that bad, but it's good to go through them every so often anyway. The one in the room that will be FC's is used for storage right now, so I know we need to get that straightened out.
I know she won't be one of those over the top white glove, heaven forbid you have dust on your floorboards, type people, but I certainly want to present ourselves as well as we would for any guest in our home! (OK - so other guests wouldn't see closets or bathroom cabinets... unless they're nosey... tee hee)

We are in Indiana. We are waiting to have our Home visit, all our paperwork has been turned in to the agency doing our Home study. We have finished our classes as well. So all we need is the Home Study completed to get in line for a License.
I'm hoping we will be licensed by April or May.

I am in NJ, we've had a rollercoaster of a time just getting our application accecpted. As you can see from my timeline we were told that our background checks, referrals, application and waivers were sent to licensing on 1/21 or so - so I am assuming we are waiting for the ok for our last inspection - I've been meaning to ask our RFW in what order it goes but I know she is avoiding my call - actually the last time I spoke with her she said " it would be appreciated if you can wait until I call you with status " but I still make it my business to call her every 2 weeks

I found my toddler's medical check in the baby bag yesterday and took it in today. other than that, they've had the rest of my paperwork since the begining of jan and we've taken the classes though dh needs an adoption class the fostering is all done and so is the cpr.

all we are waiting on is the home inspection. she hasn't called me missing that last medical check since the beg of jan (about 5 wks now) so I'm a bit frustrated. wondering how long they have to drag this out.

so all in all I'm waiting on her to get my file together and give it to the place she outsources to for home inspections so we can get it scheduled. I was hoping for jan, now hoping for feb but who knows it might be march and then however long it takes the state to approve it from there.
