Got news today that paperwork wasn't fully taken care of which is why the license got delayed but things are getting back on track so that matter will be resolved by Tuesday!

It took just over a month for ours to come back from one state and over a month and a half from another. It was a painful wait. I hope yours come through faster but prepare yourself. Once the last one was in, it was less than two weeks and we were licensed.

Cool Waiting in CT

Hello,

I had the classes first then the Home Study. The classes were very informative. Although, it seemed to me that there were so many bad stories from other foster/adoptive parents. A lot of us wondered if they were trying to discourage us. Fortunately, most of us made it through all 10 classes.
Everything is done on my part. The only thing i'm waiting for is to have my Home Study approved and to be licensed. I emailed the SW Friday to check in to see how things were going. I've been waiting a couple of months. She wrote back right away saying she hasn't even completed and handed in my Home Study yet to be approved because of her heavy case load, but said she hopes to get to it soon. I wrote back and thanked her and added some questions. I was really disappointed, though. I'm hoping to hear something soon. All i keep thinking about is my children are somewhere out there waiting for me to come get them.

Hoping to adopt 1 or 2 girls between 0-12 yrs--any race

Our paperwork is to be sent into the state either today or Monday. Should be officially licensed by the end of next week or the start of the next.

I just got an e-mail that our paperwork was finally submitted to the state. We started the process May 2008 and for one reason or another (none our fault) it has taken forever. I just have to keep in mind that eveything happens for a reason and hopefully soon we'll be licensed. ALthough apparently our state is taking a few weeks to process everything from what she said. At least now we can shift gears and get reasy for the real rollercoaster that we will soon be experiencing.

it seems that there is a large amount of hurry up and wait in getting licensed and through the entire process. We started the process of adoption from foster care in 2006 and things moved slowly until we decided that we were willing to try fostering. After notifying our adpotion worker that we were persuing our fostercare liscense through an agency closer to home POOF!! we were matched for adpotion and if we opened our FC liscense they could place the children with us while we are waiting on the red tape for the adoption.

Very excited!!

Holy Moly,

Just got an email from the Social Worker. My Home Study is completed and approved and i should be officially licensed this week. Yay!!!!!!

On top of that, i got a call from a Case Worker of a child i had previously inquired about. We've been playing phone tag. Hopefully, this week i will be able to speak with her.

Will keep everyone up to date.

not sure if we're licensed!

We finished all of our req's (fingerprints/training/home visits/etc.) in April. There was a change in personnell (the SW in charge got promoted, and a new one will be calling us)

Last week, new SW called us, saying "I understand that you're one of the new foster parents"..... and wanted to confirm our last name (don't get me started on why this isn't perfectly clear from all of our paper work!)

A few days later, we received a letter in the mail with a sample form that they now have everyone sign at placement. The letter was addressed "Dear New Foster Parents".

So I called the new SW and left a VM asking for confirmation - does this mean we are officially licensed?

No call back yet, but if yes, then it took us 4-5 months from orientation. Of course, now there's the question of waiting for a placement!
