We just had our last meeting today and now we just have to wait for placements. Where we live they don't seem to be very strict about things. No home study (they just walked through the house), No PRIDE classes (Not even sure what this is). The only downside is that they have no placements right now. I guess we just wait until they call us, and I'm not hoping that they do, but if we're needed we want to be there.

We are officially licensed - for 3!!!! The license says 3 kids, 0-12yr. However, she told us that she put in our file that if it was a group of 3, one would have to be under 1yr. so they could be in a crib in our bedroom.

Was told that everything looked great and she would be back in two weeks for licensing

We are in Colorado, we have 1 more home study meeting next week. She said we should be licensed by mid May at the latest, I guess we'll see.

getting pretty close, I emailed the CM asking for an update. she emailed me back, she was on vaca and is catching up. she said she had everything she needed, she's going to hopefully get it uploaded this week to the computer, send it to her supervisor for approval and then she'll call us to let us know we are on the call list so maybe by the end of next week I can be hpeful right

My wife and I am waiting for our license still. We were getting good at being patient then we found out last week that our SW would be out. We figured that it was because of the Holy week but we found out yesterday that she had to have emergency surgery. Nothing too serious (I think it was her appendix). We hope she gets well soon genuinely for her overall well being but we also want our license! We were told that even though she is in the hospital she has been writing up her homestudies and then someone from the office will pick it up and type them up for her that way the families arent on hold since they do have children right now in need of homes. They have been loosing some of their Foster/adopt families due to the poor economy so they are eager to get the homes licensed for the people who are open to taking children in.

Pray for us and keep your fingers crossed that we get our license soon. Also Pray for our SW's speedy recovery!

We had our final homestudy yesterday. She was there less than 30 minutes and she didnt even walk through the entire house. It went really well, I think. She said we will get our license at the end of this month, but not to be suprised if they call us before that. We started out only wanting to take birth to 3 years old. But now is birth to 5, maybe even 6 years old. Im so excited and have everything ready... just waiting for the phone to ring......

We have our first adoption class tonight and then one more in a couple weeks.

We did get 2 more calls last week. The first one for a newborn, we said yes but didn't get him/her. The 2nd call was for a 1 month and a 11 month old, both boys. We just happened to be at Toys R Us when we got the call and the okay. We grabbed a 2nd car seat rushed home and started getting things ready for a 2nd baby when the county worker said that the older baby was contagious and they wouldn't be bringing them over. I felt so bad for the poor little guy.

At least now I know that while we are working on switching over to fost/adopt it may still be possible to get a placement. It was a nice reminder to keep having faith. I just keep praying that if there is a little one who is supposed to be in our family that God will help them find their way here.

I hear about these calls and as I wait and wait to finish our classes and paperwork i just keep thinking that the kids I am supposed to help are being hurt or neglected right now and I just want the process to hurry up!

Hi everyone,
I began the process 2 weeks ago with one agency. I submitted our application, scheduled an initial home visit (they come out and do a pre-inspection to let you know what needs to be done for the Final Inspection) and started filling out the Foster care/ Fos Adopt packet. My DH and I had our fingerprinting completed, and was almost finished with the packet when she came this last Tues (4/14/09) for the initial inspection. SHe didn't even go through the entire house. We have a pool so she went to look at that first and then said she would not be able to license us unless we added more fencing around the pool or got a pool cover that you can walk on. ( First off, we rent... and it has a fence seperating it from the rest of the backyard, but there are 2 doors that lead out to the pool area from the house. Each door has an alarm on it so that if anyone were to go out it I would hear it. ) So, she told us that she recommends we go through the county because they have different rules and they may be able to help us.

So, now I have started the process over again. We have an Orientation and take care of business day scheduled for May 16th. They are sending the license packet in the mail so that I can complete it before the Orientation. On that day, we will get new fingerprinting done, a TB test done and some other things done.

I am really kind of bummed because with the first agency, she said we would be complete by May 15th and we could get a child asap. But, now we have to start all over and can't even begin until May. However, I have wanted to do this for a long time and I am only more determined to make this happen. We have 5 children of our own, but feel that there are many more children that would benefit from a family like ours.

well, I didn't get an email or phone call today. so I'm hoping still be the end of next week, we will. I'm hoping the time will be sooner rather than later.
