our licensing home visit is april 1 :-)

My family is giving us a shower Saturday, and our church is giving us one on Sunday ... it's going to be a GREAT week!

New here- been lurking for a while...

Licensed almost a month ago, had two calls so far-

one did not go into placement (decided to try safety plan with bio's) and the other was outside of our age range...

Here's hoping the luck of the thread holds and we get a call!

(Taking infants 0-12mo)

Have everything ready including formula on hand, diapers in various sizes, crib made up, car seats, etc...

My girls keep asking when our foster babies are coming!

ethans mom- we were there the exact same dates but I don't remember seeing you guys...oh well only a couple million people there! We did have the exact same fam photo made though...my kid was the one on a leash...she's only 2 but she's a runner.

evillemom&dad - Showers are so much fun! Especially when they are for you. I'm sure you'll have a great time and I hope you get the things that you need.

Mr. Cris - Glad you are almost done too. I hope the rest goes quite smoothly for you.

It won't be long before we'll need to start a new thread - Newly Licensed and up to our elbows in diapers... or something like that

I'm a little frustrate and a little relieved all at the same time...we got a call that our pride class for tomorrow was cancelled. I am exhausted and need a day at home to get some things done but I just know this will delay us getting things done even more.

the sw that did our home study is completing our report. I think that will be ready for the CM/our file maybe friday. then its whatever the CM need to do if there's a final report or anything. other than that, our file should be complete soon and ready for approval

Our last visit was today and we're approved. She will be sending our info in for our license this week or next.

I had my first homestudy last week. It went very well. We have to do one more homestudy, hopefully in the next 2 weeks. Our homefinder said we will be licensed at the end of April......
There is nothing left to do but wait. I wish they would move a little faster!

Tori- I'm so glad you are almost done! KUP when you get your license and your first placement.

Our worker is hopefully coming over tomorrow at 3:30 to give us our license. I am praying that she doesn't cancel as I am going crazy with curiosity about the details of the license - how many, did she stick with our requested age range, etc.

In addition to receiving our license tomorrow, she was supposed to present us to the adoption people today. They have a week to review our file, and then?????? I hope to find out more tomorrow about what happens after that.

We know that this is just the first step, really. NOW comes the hard part of waiting for kids. I'm wondering if it's harder to wait once you have your license, since you know you're cleared and ready to go, KWIM?

We went to a meeting last night at our agency, just for their foster parents. L.A. County is phasing out their foster families and we found out this during our home study and were told we had until October to get dually certified, because after that the county would no longer place kids into foster-only homes.

We found at at the meeting last night that the county has already begun implementing the changes (placing only with dual/cert regardless of situation) and we probably won't be getting placements until we get the new certification. I guess the license we just got is useless. So now we start on the new license.
