Question Would you go to a FP meeting?

We are still waiting to get approved for classes (since Nov/08), and I am trying not to get my hopes up at this point. But I was reading our local CAS website and found they have FP meetings once a month and the next one is this Thursday.

I wrote to the email address and asked if potential FPs were welcome, or if it was FP only? and got a message back, "our F.P.A. meeting is this Thursday at 7p.m. The C.A.S. office. We look forward to seeing you Thursday night."

So I would assume that means we are welcome, even though we aren't FP yet. But I wonder if it's better to wait till we get approval to go to classes. I am so afraid to get my hopes up and then get turned down. The more I do, the more involved I get, the more my hopes are raised...

Would you go, or would you wait?

I would go. It puts you in contact with agency and gets your name and face out there. Good luck

I agree with jp. Go to any and all fp functions that you can. It shows the agency that you are serious about being the very best fp that you can. It may even make the difference in being invited to take the classes.

I would go. Those other foster parents might have great info for you on how to make things get rolling instead of sitting and waiting. You will also be making friends with other FP's that could come in handy later down the road.

I would go. We have plenty of newbies or soon to be foster parents attend our meetings. It lets them hear about what complaints we have and what's going on.

Thanks everyone! Your thoughts on this really helped. I talked to my husband about it and he agrees we should go to the meeting.
