My husband and I just attended the orientation and are going to the next class in a week. We are concerned about a few things and wondering if anyone from NH knows the answers or just anybody that knows what the state generally expects. First,we live in a mobile home so the bedrooms are quite small but we have things set up so the kids have space in the room to play and have their clothes but I'm concerned whether or not there is a room size requirement ours is 10x6. Secondly,we do not have insurance on our car would this be a problem? Third, neither my husband or I officially finished high school. No diploma or GED. Will this matter? I'm very nervous and anxiously awaiting your reply! Thanks!

In NH too
The room size should not matter. You just have to have a bed for each child. There is no bunkbed age requirement either. We have an average size room for the bedroom and have a bunkbed and crib. We are liscensed for 6 but will only take up to three. They are going to make sure you have cabinet locks, locks on any cabinet you have cleaning supplies in, hard wired smoke detector, a fire extinguisher rated A,B, C (I think), and running water and flushing toilet.
I do believe you will need to get car insurance, I believe it is one of the packet questions. Which part are the state are you in? We are North Country and have been fostering for about a year. Good luck. I will try to figure out how to PM you.

You have to have car and home/renter's insurance...it's a requirement.

How much would renter's insurance typically be? I wouldn't have any idea.

Renter's insurance would be less than car insurance...
