I thought it would be fun to see how many of us here are newly licensed and waiting for our first foster care placement. Then we can keep this thread going with updates on the phone calls we get and first placement announcements!!

I'll start... I got licensed yesterday!!! No phonecalls yet.

Licensed August 2008 for foster/adopt of up to 2 kids ages 2 and under, and still waiting here too!

Single guy. Have been licensed since Nov 12 08 and completed final adoption interview Jan 12 09.

Waiting here. Got our first call yesterday in the middle of a snowstorm for a sibling group of 4 - 8, 7, 2 & an infant. We can't fit 4 in our car! I told them if they needed us to keep the younger two for a bit while they fond a home for all of them we would, but I never heard back. Hope they are somewhere safe this morning.

So, still waiting. Licensed 1/15.

We got the phone call that we were licensed on Wednesday, the 28th. We were told the placement worker would look for a child that was a really good fit with our family...not even sure what that means. We were also told the wait would be a week or two .... We started the process in August and I already feel like we've been waiting forever! We're looking for 0-2. -Kyla

She is a 3 year old girl. She was placed with us last night. We got the call just before 5pm and she was here by 6. She is such a little sweetheart. So far we have had only 2 meltdowns today. One was because my dh had ask her to pick up her toys because we were heading to the grocery store, and the second time was because my cat had come inside to eat and she was determined that he was not suppose to be inside. I tried to tell her it was alright for the cat to be inside the house, but she was having no part to that. The more I tried to say it was ok, the louder she got in protest. And she loves to use the word NO quite loudly. I think she has heard that word alot. Other than that she has been and absolute angel.

Congrats LacyJ!!

I got first phone call Thursday, and that evening we were placed with a 2-day old baby boy!! I'm so happy! He is sweet and cute and cuddly and... keeping me awake at night.
But he is worth every minute.

We are stuck in a fingerprinting nightmare. My dh, because of his age (older) and his occupation (doctor) has washed away his prints! Everything else is done and approved but we are now on his 5th set of prints.

Paperwork is now being processed for a non-fingerprint fbi check. Grr...

I am ready to be licensed and with a placement!
