Check with your licensing agency.

In my county, you are allowed to have children of opposite sexes if they are both under the age of 3, it still applies for siblings.

If you are thinking of doing children of opposite sexes you might want to have two girls in one room and a boy room.

In my state, no different sex children can sleep in the same room. It doesn't matter if they are young or siblings or infants.

Just the same sex in the same room.

In my agency (my state is MN but I think that's moot - states don't typically set the rules for this sort of stuff) I've had kiddos age newborn through age 10 of different genders share a room and they've never said boo about it. I've never had two separate placements here at the same time through so they were always siblings. Or for instance, currently, my daughter is sharing a room with my foster son because they are both early risers, and my son is sharing his room with my foster daughter (foster sons 1/2 sibling) because they both like to sleep in. All are age 5 or under.

I've never heard of (especially younger) genders sharing bedrooms being a problem before. Seems a bit ridiculous IMHO.

Check with your specific agency you're working with lyly. They'll let you know one way or the other so you can plan accordingly.

I believe the "theory" is to keep the genders separated because of possible sexual acting out. Which of course is not particularly valid, because a child who is prone to abuse is just as likely to abuse a same sex child.
