Home studies

It's been a month and a couple of weeks since i finished my maap classes and everyone that took the classes are done with there homestudies. I still haven't gotten not even one. I was suppose to get one today and my hb one on friday. But sw called me late yeasterday stating she needed to reschedule for next week saying she needed to go to court today. She called me again this morning to make sure i got her message. so i said to her can we reschedule for friday morning before she sees my hb she said what ever i want would be fine. If it would be what ever i want i think i would already be licensed. I'm just so fustrated with this sw. If she reschedules again this friday could i call her supervisor or someone to talk about my situation?

It sounds like you need a different sw! You should definitely complain, esp. since there may be others on her case load who are having similar problems. If it is a problem with the sw, then having multiple complaints would help the agency find out what the problem is. If you seem to be the only one having problems, though, maybe they can just assign you a different sw.

She seems nice but i sometimes feel like she doesn't want us to be foster parents. I know that they have a lot of work to do but almost 2 years is avery long time to get licenced. I feel like calling her supervisor but i feel like it might make things worse. I do foster care reviews as a volunteer and i actually met her supervisor and she seems very mean.

I have looked into doing the foster care reviews too. I think that could be a PART of why your getting pushed off. It could be a "she understands the system and how much we have to do" mentality. It could ALSO be that many social workers feel that having foster parents that are also foster care review volunteers is a conflict of interest that is ignored. I don't feel that way, but I know there are social workers that do. If I were you I would write a letter, send it to the social worker and CC her supervisor. Explain how long you've been waiting. I would honestly state in the letter that as a volunteer for the department you are aware how busy they are, but also of the need for more foster homes etc...I would push the issue by letter or e-mail. Getting them on the phone seems almost impossible. (Especially I am finding at THAT office)
