Tracy,

Sounds like you've done what you can now. But if you hear of anything else that poses a risk to Brandon, please, file a formal report with intake at CPS. Don't go to the caseworker---call the emergency hotline and keep this sweet little boy safe.

I can definitely see why you're worried.

Thanks Guys...I needed that! Right now I'm feeling kinda helpless and lost. I'm known for my GET 'ER DONE motto and I just can not make my voice heard. I am not giving up; however. I have both eyes open and Brandon's well-being will continue to be a priority with me.

They along with my parents will be our guest on Labor Day ( it's also my Birthday, BTW ) and while I really enjoy having family over I'm actually interested in seeing if their drinking habits have changed. Ugh...I hate feeling like I'm an undercover detective but I can't help myself.

I will admit that having seen him the other day he appears to be adjusting well. He was laughing and playing and attempting to offer my baby his toys and sippy cup! His burns are healing well and he will not need another skin graph, but did require a 2 inch one before he left the hospital. His boom-boom rash is all healed so between my S-I-L and my Mom his needs are being met and my Dad has bought a car seat for his SUV! OK he did say "Tray, this will be used for Aidan someday" so maybe I'm a tad bit jealous, too.

Look, Guys I'm going through a lot; I still have major baby-blues at times, my girls are Sr.'s and constantly discussing heading out to the west coast for college next year, my reunited daughter is being soooo normal that it is scary LOL; she probably bought my son 5 of the cutest outfits ever this week and got me a book on homemade organic baby food which she wants us to make together. I'm feeling very scattered today.

I'm glad you are all here and here for me. I need to know that despite what my family says or doesn't say, I am not being paranoid, and you guys validate this for me. Tracy

Tracy,

You are going through a lot right now which makes it even more amazing that you were able to look beyond your own life and issues to help Brandon in the ways that you did. He is very blessed to have you in his life.

I'm glad Brandon seems to be adjusting well.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks Yash, both for the supportive post and the Birthday wish! I'm getting closer and closer to 40 and as a new Mom, that is not my favorite number! Good thing Oprah says it's the "new 20."I think in time I will feel better about Brandon being there but it simply hasn't happened yet.

You mentioned me looking beyond my own life and issues to help Brandon; I wanted to share that it comes from having a D/H who happens to be a Minister. Our church interests have always provided a reason to care and share and I discovered long ago that when I focus on the needs of others mine always seem so minor in comparison. Today and tonight I've spent time attempting to pull local housing, blankets, donations, prepaid phone cards, etc. together should the hurricane bring in evacuees from La. I'm exhausted but it's so rewarding. Thanks, Tracy

Tracy: Clearly you have a lot on your plate already and now you have to worry about Brandon. I have one suggestion - send emails to the CW and keep a copy. Start with a review:
"Dear Miss TooBusy: Regarding our conversation on (date) regarding my nephew's placement, my concerns were: drinking, presence of mother, SIL loss of custody of other children, etc.
and you assured me that: drinking is ok, using child for extra income is ok, no arrest record means good parent material, you don't care if abusive mother has visits it's a police matter. etc.
Thank you for your explanations. If I have any other concerns, should I contact you or go directly to the police?
----- Print and keep a copy. If you know the name of her supervisor, CC the email to her too. You may find that there is more immediate interest in your nephew from the people who should be protecting him.
Conversations are easy to deny. Paperwork is evidence.
