Anticipated Wait Time?

We're willing to accept B/G from 0-18 and are willing to accept most special needs.

We're in a good size county in Indiana. How long do you think we'll wait for a placement?

Just need to know how soon to start getting things together. Time is starting to fly by!!!

With an age range that broad, and willingness to take special needs, I would think you'll have a placement in no time! Good luck!

We were asked about a placement two weeks before we had the actual license. It was for a baby with medical needs that was coming out of a medical home and moving into a regular home. We had to say no because I didn't feel qualified to take care of his special medical needs. Got the second call within a week of license(they went to another home) and then got the call for "Sweetpea" on 4th week after license. It can happen really fast!

as boulderbabe said - with that age range and willingness to deal with special needs - no time! we got calls within days of being licenced (waited 2 months for an actual placmemnt - lots of us saying yes and kids going to relatives) but we only accepted 0-5 single kids to start with.

We are in a pretty big county, but our area is very rural. We've been licensed since July 4th but havent recieved a call yet. Our SW said some foster parents have waited a year or more for a placement.

don't know about your county, but in our county you would have had a placement yesterday. I feel with such an age range with few limitations you will stay full most of the time....Good Luck

I'm also in Indiana, in a smaller county (Hendricks) and we are just starting the process and are open up to age 4, I have a client who is a case worker with CPS and she said even for us there would be next to no wait. In Hendricks parents for age 4 and under are the most in need.
