Homestudy Submitted - Wait time?

We learned that our homestudy was finally submitted three weeks ago. It was the CW's last day on the job. She had previously said that after our license was issued, they schedule another meeting with us to go over our strengths and weaknesses and invite us to become members of the foster family association. So...

How long, after a study is submitted, does it take for the license to be issued?

Who's likely to have the strength/weakness meeting?

I've dropped a note, just minutes ago, to the placement worker who will "most likely" work with us and is the only name the previous cw shared with me. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Just looking to see if you can give me a general feel for how much longer we can anticipate waiting.

Thank you.

I never had a meeting where I was 'invited' to join the foster parent association. Where I am, we simply pay the annual fee and attend the meetings.

Once my license was issued, that was it. I was open for placements at that point. It took 2 months until I received a placement, but that was my choice as I was leaving the country on vacation and didn't think it would be fair to have a child placed with me only to be put in respite while I went on vacation.

Good luck.

Well, I called after not receiving a response to my email mentioned in the first post of this thread.

Much to my disappointment, I learned that the caseworker who was writing up our homestudy did NOT, in fact, turn in our homestudy last month. She has yet to turn it in. She also no longer works for them, having taken a job with another county. They're "hoping" she turns it in today. It also seemed like ther was no impact or consequence to her if she doesn't turn it in today.

IF she turns it in today, it will take several weeks for it to be reviewed because of the stack already waiting with the director and the director's pending vacation.

I now have the direct number to the placement worker. I'll be calling at least once a month for an update. Honestly, I'd be surprised if we have a placement before the holidays at this rate.

Sorry. I'm disappointed.

I'm sorry for the delays. Personally, I would call more frequently than once a month. I would follow each and every call up with an email. This leaves a good paper trail for you if there are problems with people saying one thing and doing another.

I believe we are in the same boat with the length of time it takes. We were waiting also to find out our CW just started writing. I was advised to call every week and I WILL do that! I will be nicely persistant. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip about calling more frequently. I have the placement worker's number posted above my office phone.

I received an email this week stating that the report has actually been submitted and is confirmed to be on the supervisor's desk. She's just out on vacation for the next two weeks. So, I know there is no way for it to be approved before school starts. It will come in time. I'm just bad at waiting.
