To be perfectly honest I don't know why she called me. She knows that for now I only want to be contacted for children who have already been TPR'ed or legal risk. I am hoping that this is not a pattern because I felt seriously guilty telling her no yesterday!

I got the call while I was at the supermarket so I came home and immediately started putting the furniture together in the nursery because clearly this really could happen at any minute! Here's hoping that a second more appropriate call comes soon!

I have gotten (and accepted) tons of calls for kids who were not what we specified. We were willing to take kids up to 10 (including sibling groups...especially sibling groups), any race, but no sexual abuse.

We've had (temporary) placements for teens up to 17 (and pregnant!).

Sorry for the lack of updates. Things have been super busy with being back at work and all. The Peanut is doing great. She is growing like gangbusters!

birthmom is still MIA but they are actively looking for her to get her to sign the TPR papers. If not we have to wait until 6 months after dispo.

Been running back and forth to the doctor with her acid reflux but with this last med adjustment and the addition of a little rice cereal to her formula she seems to be doing a LOT better.

Hating medicaid because it take 2 months to get approval for minor surgery! If we could get the TPR done I could put her on my insurance and we wouldn't have to wait until next year! (Yep, they said it would be next year).

At the last FT meeting the team was impressed at how well bonded she is. How could she be anything else? She is my daughter and I am her mommy.

In the meantime I have turned down one other placement until Peanut's tummy issues are a little better. I think it's unfair to bring another child in right now when some nights involve 6-8 hours stretches of crying and no sleep for anyone involved.

How is everyone else doing?

Smile Long time no post

Things are going good on our end. The Peanut is growing like gangbusters and it is a joy to watch her learn new things every day. We started with baby food this month (homemade sweet potatoes and rice cereal) and she is loving it! It is messy, but wonderful.

At our last court date the judge set an early termination hearing for the end of January so I have all of my fingers and toes crossed for that one. Bio-mom stated that she wanted me to have the Peanut but disappeared before she signed off. Bio-dad is still in jail and hinted at the last court date that he would be willing to sign off as well if the judge would forgive his child support debt (yeah, what a gem!) she told him that she could not do that and then set the early permanency hearing date (hopeful that is a good sign).

It is so close to becoming a reality, but I can't help but be tentative. It would tear me apart to lose "my" daughter at this point.

Heart

That was the most wonderful Thread to read! I read from June till now and it was like reading a story!
Want2adopt, I'm so happy for you, that you got the baby you wanted. I so hope that everything works out for you and peanut becomes your forever little girl. It looks good, though, doesn't it? It's probably all a matter of time, now.
You have the story I want. My hubby and I don't have any kids, and are accepting our first placement in January. Of course, I would love to adopt, but I'm willing to work with the process, and take whatever baby they give me. I sure would love for it to work out the way yours did, though! How blessed you are! Thanks for all the updates and please keep them coming. Hopefully we will both have good news in January!!

She has an extra digit that needs to be removed.

Thanks so much for all of the well wishes. Things get so busy sometimes that I forget to update. I do come in a couple of times a week and follow everyone else's posts though

Update (cross-posted)

After 7 long months last week bio-dad TPR'ed and this week they brought bio-mom to court and she TPR'ed as well! That means that Princess Peanut will soon be a part of my forever family.

Remember that she came home with me straight from the hospital after being born with drugs in her system and bio-mom having no prenatal care. birthmom dropped out of the picture when Peanut was 2 months old and just showed up now when they found her in the local jail.

I can't tell you how happy I am with the whole situation! Now I just have to wait 3 months until our court date and find an adoption attorney.
