Just starting out

I wanted to introduce myself.

We started considering foster care about 2 years ago, but were told that we would likely not get a placement due to the ages we were open to and our conty being so small. Well, after a messy failed private adoption, we are again considering foster care. A social worker, out of th blue, called us about 3 weeks ago. How random I thought, and didn't return her call for about 3 days. Now I am kicking myself! I have heard through the grapevine, that there was indeed a child in the age group we were open to that needed a foster home immediately, in fact, in the last 6 monts there has been at least 4 or 5! The county has had to place them outside of our conty, because they had no where to place them in county... So long story short, we are having our first home visit with the county social worker on Tuesday...we have records being transferred from everywhere to the county and are hoping to get licensed quite quickly!

Again, I just wanted to say hello and I hope I become a part of the foster care and adoption forum, very soon!

Welcome

I too am new to the foster and adopt 'world'. My husband and I were just approved three weeks ago. We are hoping to foster and adopt 2 kids aged 2 and under. Our friends have adopted both of their foster babies. Best wishes !

Just wanted to update--only one more meeting with the county social worker! Alot of the classes/education we had done for private adoption can be transferred for the needed foster education, which will allow us to be licensed alot quicker... I am both very nervous and very excited!!

Congrats on your new journey! Here's hoping you have a short wait until your baby arrives.
