Waiting

The waiting is making me crazy!!! I turned in all of my paperwork two weeks ago and all of my references turned in their forms about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything and the waiting is so hard!!! How do you deal with waiting? It doesn't help that I just got a crib that now sits empty...

You've done what you can and it is now out of your hands. I know the waiting is hard; but you're not the only one they're working on completing.

We completed all our work in March and had confirmation that all the background checks and references are in as well. The worker needed to write up our homestudy and get the final approval for our license. When I touched base with her in April, she was going to write ours up that week. We're in touch with the other members of our PRIDE class and we're all still waiting. It has only been 2 months.

You will get your license. It just takes more time than we wish it too. They are short on workers. Our county only has 2 licensing workers. If your homestudy was anything like mine, they've got a stack of papers to analyze and write up. We saw our folder. It is easily an inch and a half thick.

I was where you are. We bought a crib the day we found out we were approved. April 25 was our one year anniversary of being approved and we just finally got our first possible placement call on Monday. I just as anxious as you and still am. I guess I am saying hang in there, like everyone else has said. I am still hanging in there, hoping that we do get this first placement!

They called

Over a year waiting for a placement? I don't think I could wait that long. I got a call today that all my necessary paperwork has been reviewed and accepted. We scheduled my second and final homestudy!! He seems confident that I will not only be licensed, but have a placement by mid summer. Yeah!

To everything there is a season!

My husband and I began classes last Sept. and were supposed to be approved by mid-Nov. The first week in November brought several 'law' changes in Pa. foster care and we were required to do fingerprints, as well as have our 14 yr. old daughter get clearances. Then, after having my fingerprints 'rejected' twice, we were finally approved on April 30. I was not glad about the delay, but I truly believe that things happen for a reason. The timing for each of us coincides with the particular child that we need to be matched with. Keep reminding yourself that you will meet the right child at the right time. Now we are waiting for a placement call, but I still believe the timing will be perfect!!
