Medical Stuff

What kind of conditions will prevent us from foster/adopting medically speaking?

I have a blood clotting disorder and have been denied life insurance because of it. (individual policies that is, at former jobs I was able to get the company coverage just not the extra coverage). I'm on a maintenance dose of blood thinners daily and I get monthly blood draws and yearly checkups. As long as I keep active and keep on my meds I shouldn't get another clot. This condition is one of the reasons pregnancies have been difficult for us.

I'm just scared that I'm going to be denied the opportunity to parent because of some genetic disorder.

What do you all think?

Not sure about your condition but my husband is epileptic and we were approved. His epilepsy is completely controlled by medication. We just needed a note saying it would not interfere with his ability to parent.
I bet that it will depend on your state but my guess is that it will be ok.

Your medical condition will not automatically prevent you from fostering/adoptiong. As the previous poster stated, you will probably need a medical clearance or note that states although you have this condition, you've successfully maintained/monitored and it will not hinder your ability to parent. I know people with physical disabilities, diabetes, etc that have all been approved.

Good luck!
