Just Beginning

Hello Everyone,

DH and I are signed with a private adoption agency, but we're waiting for a healthy cc newborn, so it may take a while (if it even ever happens), we're also going through infertility treatments, so there are many options to finally have our own baby. I am going absolutely crazy in the meantime, I am paid to work full-time as a nanny but only work an average of 20 hours a week. We have the time, the love, the room, and everything we could possibly need for a baby. But no baby. We are totally ready, but we just sit here with nothing.

So, we have decided that we would like to try foster care with the goal of reunification or adoption for us. One issue is that we would only want a baby (under 2 years old) because that is what we are set up for. Not only that, if we do have a temporary placement and we suddenly get a baby through adoption, they can stay in the same room. So, we're excited, but also totally nervous.

We did check into everything last summer, but could not have done reunification at that time. Now, we feel that we can. So, we called yesterday, went to the informational meeting last night, are handing our applicaion to our caseworker (is that what she's called?) tomorrow, and starting our 4-week class on Saturday. Wow, what a whirlwind! They also said they would accept our private homestudy, which is great.

But there seems like there is so much to do to get ready, so much paperwork still to come. They still come visit us, separate from the homestudy, etc.

I guess I just wanted to introduce myself (the long way ) and ask if anyone had any tips for us.
