Wink Can prozac rule me out as a candidate?!?

Quick question. Im about to star the application process to foster children in England. I am a fully registered adult nurse and have 4 children of my own. I also legally raised my husbands 2 kids who are now grown up as they had an awful homelife so we took them into our home.
I know they do criminal and medical checks and I have been on prozac since my teens. This is not an issue in everyday life as I cope great with my kids etc, but will it rule me out of the fostering role???
Obviously the NHS were aware of this and still trained me as a nurse etc with no qualms but im worried they will think im a potential nutcase!
What do you think?Any advice would be fantastic.x

I have a friend who is on anti-depressants and is fostering. What she was told was that it would only raise red flags if it was a NEW diagnosis, since it sometimes takes a while to get it properly treated and controlled. If your condition is stable, I can't see it being a problem - especially with your background!

Smile Thanks!!

Thanks for that, its reassuring to hear. Its just I know how stringent they are when it comes to adoption (especially in UK), and did not know whether I wouldnt even get a look in at all. I have today emailed a couple of agencies and my local social services so fingers crossed.x

Not to worry

The agencies don't have a problem with you treating a disorder or medical condition. They would be concerned if you had a problem that you weren't getting treatment for.

I'm also on antidepressants, and I was honest with my agency right from the start. When my doctor (same one who diagnosed and treats my depression and anxiety) did my physical, he gave me a glowing report. He has seen me with my two biochildren because they often come to office visits with me.

I would say you shouldn't have any issues with this.
