when applying to become a fosterparent do they check your credit.
Do they confirm all your expenses and debits?

I think it *really* depends on the state and the individual agency. I've taken FP training twice in Ohio, with private agencies, and they never mentioned a credit check, only needed a financial statement filled out.
I just got approved to adopt here in MI, and did not need a credit check. The financial worksheet was self reporting, and i dont think they verify the info on there (like bank acct amounts, bills that you have, etc.) My best advice would be to go to in info meeting for whatever agency you want to foster with, and simply ask. You won't be the first person do have questions. I was concerned about my work situation (i am a paid caregiver for my mother), and my agency said, basically, don't worry about it, they work with ALOT of different types of families and are very open. Many people have credit issues and as long as you can pay your rent and food bills i dont see why they would have a problem with it, esp if its past issues and not current ones. Katherine |

We are also in FL and aside from asking what our annual income is, they never asked to perform a credit check or anything along those lines.

We're in northern Indiana (Elkhart to be exact) and they haven't done a credit check on us yet. At least not that we are aware of...
We have filled out financial statements though, which I think is pretty much the standard wherever you foster. |
